Ice Spice announces her debut album 'Y2K' is set to release on July 26th

Updated: Jun 20

Ice Spice has just announced that her highly anticipated debut album, 'Y2K', will drop on July 26th. Despite her major popularity, this will mark her first full-length LP, and the pressure is on.

To promote the project, Ice Spice has already released two singles and accompanying music videos: 'Think U The Fart' and 'Gimmie A Light'. 'Gimmie A Light' samples Sean Paul's hit record 'Gimmie The Light', originally released in 2001. Sean Paul's single, which peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, was his first major hit. By using this sample, Ice Spice pays homage to the 2000s era, a central theme of her album.

While many are eager to see how she handles her first major project, some skeptics question her potential for long-term success. Nevertheless, Ice Spice has been recognized by Billboard as one of the top 10 hottest female rappers right now, proving her current impact in the industry.

What do you think, trappers? Will Ice Spice rise to the occasion with 'Y2K'? We’ll just have to wait until July 26th to find out.
